APS-C, Full Frame or Medium Format: Price vs Resolution

Shrinking Size of Cameras

Mirrorless cameras have brought the size of cameras down, without reducing quality. The following diagram shows DSLR and mirrorless cameras, each equipped with a high-end 85 equivalent lens. The Nikon DSLRs are significantly larger versus the mirrorless bodies. The Medium Format (44×33) GFX body is slightly smaller than either the Nikon APS-C or FF camera.

Kit Cost and Resolution Gain

If we look at three mirrorless cameras: APSC, Full Frame and Medium Format and the resolution gain versus the price increase. It seems to me that the best value if you want high resolution might well be the A7RIII, which is also the most technically advanced camera of the three.
